  1. G'day Wesley! (That is what we, Canadians, sometimes say instead of 'hello').

I am so happy to see that you have joined our summer learning journey this year. I am particularly excited to see that you've chosen to explore Canada. It really is an amazing place. Most of my family (my mom, dad and sister) all live in Ontario, Canada. In fact, my sister lives in a suburb outside of Ottawa, the capital city. It is pretty cold in Ottawa right now. In fact, my sister told me that it is currently -11 degrees and is snow everywhere! At least, they will have a nice white and wintry Christmas time.

I hope that you will continue to blog with us this summer. I know that my family and many of the Canadian students would love to blog with you over the holidays!

Keep up the great work :)

  2. Kia ora Wesley,
My name is Tania and I am a Manaiakalani Outreach Facilitator - I work in lots of different schools with teachers and learners who, like you, are using chromebooks for their learning and blogs to share their learning. I have been emailing with Rachel and she has told me all about The Summer Learning Journey, it's great to see you have made a start and chosen Canada to visit. Like Rachel said, it's really cold there right now, the total opposite to New Zealand! Imagine snow at Christmas time - doesn't seem quite right does it. I have never been to Canada so look forward to learning more about it by reading your posts. Keep up the great researching, reading, writing, creating and sharing. Enjoy your summer holiday.

  3. Kia ora Wesley,

I'm Mark, a teacher working for the Summer Learning Journey with Rachel! It is awesome to see you've gotten a start on the blogging! I think this counts as both activity 1 and 2, since you've got several facts as your reason for choosing Canada, but just to be safe please make another blog with activity 2 on it.

It is awesome that you chose Canada because I have lots of Canadian friends! If there is one thing I know about Canadians, it is that they are a lot like Kiwis. They are part of the commonwealth, they have beautiful nature, they are friendly and love a good joke, and they have a friendly rivalry with their much more populated next door neighbours.

I see that you did the Winter Learning Journey too and got an award for participating! I hope that you continue to try your best with this programme. If there is anything I can do to help you get into this, let me know.

    Kia kaha,

    Mark
